Beginning the Journey to Success

Hello, and Welcome to Skellern Success!

It only seems appropriate that in my first article I explain what it is I am building and why. I am currently undergoing a huge transition in my life from wandering vagabond to opportunity focused and driven to determine what success looks like for me and how to achieve it.

That isn’t to say that I am done wandering, just that I have come to recognise that I owe it to myself to find out what I am truly capable of, and I owe it to the world to help as many lives as possible along the way.

It may have taken 27 years, but I have come to consciously understand that I am only scratching the surface of my potential

A Little About Me

First and foremost, I am a restless human. I begin something new, work hard until I can do it, and immediately I am looking for the next thing to try. Whilst that may sound a little conceited, it has led me to realise I am driven by the want and the need to acquire new skills. With every new discovery, my sights are set a little higher, and my dreams become a little bigger.

Second, I do not believe in the ‘career’ life model that was the staple of the previous generation. In fact, I find nothing more trivial than choosing a path at 18 and sticking it out for better or worse until retirement. I don’t say this to discount it, and I know that work can give people direction in life. For me, though, getting out of bed to do the same thing every day for 40 years couldn’t be further from what I consider a ‘life!’

How I Came to This Conclusion

I have spent a large chunk of my adult life travelling, living and working in different countries around the world. I won’t go into detail at this point other than to say that through these experiences I have learnt a lot about myself, which in turn has allowed me to learn a lot about other people.

The one thing that makes every corner of the globe both unique and entirely familiar are the people

Regardless of whether you have the latest iPhone, or your only goal is to collect enough water to survive the day, people always want the same thing- to connect.

It is in the undeveloped world, however, that these connections are the strongest. They understand and build real communities, there is a mutual dependence upon each other, and a genuine joy in helping a neighbour to achieve.

Sadly most ‘connections’ in the western world come from behind a screen, and this has led me to consistently re-evaluate my notion of self, and to determine what I find truly important. In making these realisations I have come to understand that my path to happiness is in helping other people.

What I Am Building

I have come to accept that we are only going to continue assimilating technology into our lives. There is no use in fighting it, and I would be doing a disservice to myself and others by doing so.

Instead, I am using the resources available to me to reach out to a larger audience to build a community of like-minded people, to help lift each other to new heights by sharing ideas, motivation, knowledge and skills.

I am creating this space to:

  1. Truly define and determine what success means to me. In doing so I can discover the limits of my potential, and help you to do the same.
  2. Lead by example in creating a resource for knowledge, new ideas, inspiration and leadership.
  3. Utilise the online space to attract like-minded people to potential business opportunities, and provide coaching and education.
  4. Detail and document my journey in real time.
  5. Provide generic information about the network marketing industry, free from products, ‘lifestyle’ stories or pressure tactics.
  6. Continue developing ‘self’ through the study and application of success principles, and personal development theory.
  7. Conduct a personal and social ‘experiment’ where I consciously change my belief to subconsciously affect the outcomes.

Initial Goals and Targets

With my vision in mind, it only seems appropriate to list some initial targets. In this way, I can cast a vision for my success, remain accountable and focused, and give some direction to my efforts.

  1. 100 daily visitors to this space
  2. 100 articles
  3. 1000 followers on Instagram
  4. Showing you what it took to achieve these goals
  5. Revising and re-planning my second goals and targets.

I hope that this has given you an insight into what I aim to achieve and that you will follow my journey. Please reach out to me if you would like to know more specifics of what I am building, and keep an eye on this space for more to come!
